As we’ve become increasingly aware of the inherent wastefulness of bottled water, more and more of us now simply grab a reusable drinking receptacle before heading out the door, thus preventing yet another single-use, non-biodegradable plastic bottle from living its eternal life in a landfill.

The only potential downside to this eco-conscious approach is finding somewhere to fill up again, should we be in unfamiliar territory once our bottle is drained.

Fortunately, there are more than 550 public drinking-water sources in Metro Vancouver, which means rarely are we very far from one. And now there’s TapMap, a free app that shows where they’re located and how to get there. In addition to fountains, various restaurants, hotels and retailers are included in the app’s database.
