There was no shortage of work during B.C.’s record-breaking wildfires this year. The wildfires caused power outages to more than 61,000 customers and significant damage to BC Hydro’s electricity system, including 500 power poles. Our crews worked around the clock to replace and repair damaged equipment, get power back on and protect our system from potential future damage.

Some of the communities that were hit hardest include Ashcroft, Cache Creek, Williams Lake and 100 Mile House. To help affected families, BC Hydro introduced the Wildfire Evacuee Assistance Program to provide bill credits to customers who were evacuated due to the wildfires.
