Four years ago, BC Hydro’s Allan Wong had a used bike that needed some TLC. Not knowing how to fix it, Wong turned to Our Community Bikes. After attending a few workshops at the store, staff asked him if he wanted to volunteer to fix bikes for Vancouver’s less fortunate.
Today, as a member of the Board of Directors with the PEDAL Society, he sees first-hand how vital bikes are for those who need transportation but can’t afford it.
“Transportation can be costly for those who are struggling to make ends meet, so receiving a free bike can make a real difference in their lives,” he says.
